It came without a warning…
Or did we just miss the signs?
Random House Dictionary defines reckoning as “an accounting, as for the things received or done.”
America has received much and done many things, both good and bad, righteous and evil.
An accounting has come to America.
It’s not Donald Trump. It’s not even Joe Biden or the Democratic Party.
It’s what my buddy Steve Deace calls, “The Spirit of the Age.”
Biblically it is simply explained in one verse, Isaiah 5:20:
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
A nation cannot murder over 61 million unborn babies in the womb and call that which is evil…good.
A nation cannot embrace secular humanism and it’s religion of moral relativism and call darkness…light.
A nation cannot have a cultural tone of hate manifested in culture cancellation and political correctness and call bitterness…sweet.
Many US Christians are rightly praying for revival and a return to America’s traditional values, which are based on biblical principles.
However, revival comes to those who once were alive. Additionally, there is a step most forget that must come before revival. More on that tomorrow…
In an article years ago, Pat Buchanan, in the context of addressing abortion, wrote:
“God is not mocked.”
Abe Lincoln’s way to say that came in his Second Inaugural Speech:
” Fondly do we hope—fervently do we pray—that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue until all the wealth piled by the bondman’s two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said, “The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.”
